A few months ago, the ambitious Charlotte Verminck from Knokke-Heist presented her film concept "Mind of Thoughts" at MAAK, the creative hotspot of her hometown. The reactions were unanimously positive: from the management to the mayor, everyone was behind her. The local support network, including a contribution from painting teacher Inge D'Hulster, shows how deeply involved the community is in this project.

Local involvement and international allure
What began as a small initiative grew into a production of stature with an international team of more than 50 professionals. They include American actress Brienne Mizell and Belgian-Cameroonian Berthe Tanwo Njole, with cinematography by Giancarlo Stigliano from the US. Charlotte's ability to bring together a diverse team highlights her vision of filmmaking as a universal language.
The power of diversity
Charlotte's approach illustrates the power of diversity in filmmaking. Her team members come from all over the world - from Korea to the Congo to the Netherlands. This cultural melting pot not only enriches the creative process, but also offers a variety of perspectives that will undoubtedly enhance the film.
On to the American screen
After its Belgian premiere this fall, Charlotte's eyes are on America, where she hopes to break through in the film industry. Her aspirations to achieve international success, while staying true to her Flemish roots, form an inspiring story of ambition and identity.
Who is Charlotte Verminck?
Charlotte's path in the film industry is remarkable. With no formal training, but undeniable passion and perseverance, she has worked her way up from making simple films with classmates to directing internationally recognized films. Her recent short film "Pathless" won several awards, and now she is at the helm of her first major narrative project.
Our thought...
"Charlotte Verminck proves that with determination, talent, and a solid support network, dreams are not a deception," says our publisher Geert Deman. Her story is a testament to how local talent can become a player on the world stage. Our municipality also proved to be a breeding ground for talent in the past. Think of Hans Vermeersch, Brihang, Rik Verheye, Stephan Vermeersch and there are certainly a few more missing.
